The MK House adopted cluster organization in its layout planning, with common areas such as altar, living hall and dining hall arranged along a linear corridor. This is deemed most suitable after taking into account the ‘Feng Shui’ point of view, in which individual spaces are to be separated into their own ecosystem, but still connected with each other in a universal sense.
The cluster identity informs the design of building massing as well, in which cubes of different sizes are stack on top of one another. One of the cubes incorporated ventilation blocks and travertine marble into its façade, conveying a sense of elegancy. The ventilation blocks and generous glass openings found on other cubes also embrace sunlight into the interior spaces, suggesting an interplay of light and shadow. An exploration of upper and lower building forms aids to emphasize the shifting of horizontal planes across three level of residence.
The clarity of forms as well as the composition of materials using wood, marble and colours create a cohesive design palette for a modern and contemporary outlook.
